Walks, small projects, and the details that tend to disappear unless they are written down.
The long way home
I took the side streets on the way back this afternoon. The shops were closing, the light was low, and someone had put a chair outside to catch the last warm part of the day.
There is a useful kind of attention that arrives when a familiar journey takes ten minutes longer. I came home with nothing to show for it except a few things I would otherwise have missed.
A place for paper
The desk has been collecting scraps: a sketch of a shelf, a recipe from a friend, measurements without labels. This week I found a shallow wooden tray and gave the loose pages a place to land.
It is a very small improvement. The interesting part is how much easier it becomes to begin something when the first step is already in reach. The shelf is still a drawing; the recipe is now dinner.
About this journal
This is a quiet corner for short notes about everyday life and making things by hand. Some ideas become longer entries; others are left here as reminders to return to.
For now, the notebook is mostly words. More sketches may find their way in over time.
